We looked at the eight artists who made up what is called the ashcan school.

George Bellows, "Cliff Dwellers" 1913
Then we looked at several other American artists such as Charles Sheeler,

Charles Sheeler, "American Landscape" 1920

Charles Demuth, "Buildings, Lancaster" 1930

Edward Hopper, "Early Sunday Morning" 1930
and Georgia O’Keefe.

Georgia O'Keefe, "Music - Pink and Blue II" 1919
We concluded the lecture with a brief discussion about nationalism and the extremes that the Nazis took it in terms of art, in the 1930s.
